First Session with Gujarati Cultural Association of Arizona
Today is the first of 10 sessions that we are recording for the Gujarati Cultural Association of Arizona. The sessions are being given by PARAM PUJYA SHRI RAMESHBHAI OZA, who is a very prominent religious leader in India.
Each session is 3 hours long, and consists mostly of spoken word with the occasional musical interlude.
This session has a few interesting aspects to it. First of all, everything is in Hindui, so we have no idea what they are talking about. Our client Amish has been great at helping us understand things from time to time. Another interesting aspect is the music. Eastern Indian music is very different from what we have grown up with here in the states. Time signatures, rhythmic patterns and over all mix are unique and took a little time to get used to.
