ASU Composition Studio Student Recital

Dan Malone has just wrapped up recording a couple of live performance at ASU’s Katzin Recital Hall.

This evening featured a number of student performances, showcasing works that were composed by students of the ASU Composition Studio.

Michael Markowski
Ryan Springler
Erica Glenn
Jason Gray

Markowski’s latest composition Dahl House featured 3 movements. The first and third featured the vocal skills of Jeff Jones with Mr. Michael Fan accompanying on piano. The second, and my personal favorite, featured Adrienne Turner singing a slightly seductive number titled Hot and Cold. I’m sure the audience was not expecting her to let her hair down.

Ryan Springler’s work entitled Gold Diggers of 1845, is a work composed for 2 pianists. This evening’s performance featured Sun Young and Abhishek Gorur performing side by side. Fortunately Katzin Hall has a nice piano collection including 2 Steinway’s and a Bosendorfer.
