Michael Fan Sessions

Today Dan and Mike spent the morning at ASU's Katzin Recital Hall working with Pianist Michael Fan on material for his upcoming college auditions.

The session went very well considering Michael has been studying piano for 14 years now. His piano teacher was at the session to help guide Mike through is performances. The interaction between Mike and his teacher is commendable; she was able to help Mike bring out the best performance that she knew he was capable of.

In many cases, I find it better for students to have their teachers present for their recording sessions. Many students tend to let the fact that they are recording effect their performance. With a familiar element, such as a teacher, the student is held to the best standards they can achieve.

We with get together for a second session at the end of the month to finish up Michaels recordings.
