Corigliano Debuts Circius Maximus ASU

Saturday was a day to be enjoyed. It is rare that I have the opportunity to simply enjoy a great musical work. I often find myself recording a performance that I would love to enjoy as a patron.

I had the honor of meeting and exchanging some words with composer John Corigliano after ASU Wind Ensembles rehearsal of his latest composition Circus Maximus. Later that evening I attended the premiere performance with good friend Jon Gomez.

Circus Maximus is a deep and insightful 35 minute work that takes the listener on a wonderful journey through the fall of the Roman Empire. I sat engaged through the entire performance and speechless at the end. I love it when music does that. That is the very reason I love to record.
