Whew - Temple Dedication

Dan has been busy all weekend long helping Amish Amin with many different live sound tasks for an Indian Temple dedication in South Phoenix.
With multiple sessions at multiple locations things are always on the move.
So far this has been an interesting experience. As setup was taking place, we heard the United States National Anthem being sung….by an girl of (eastern) Indian decent. In one respect it was odd since this was a dedication for a Indian Temple where people came from as far as California to celebrate, on the other hand it was very cool to see them hang the American Flag just below their own and hang it with a flare of glitter as it flew up the flag pole.
Later that same evening, at a dinner and dance event, the religious leader spoke, and in another surprise identified the problems with communications. In India, if I am correct there are 17 different languages, when they move here they also learn English since it is the way of the land. Anyway he spoke of the problems in speaking and not being able to speak in a single language that everyone understands, he ended by acknowledging English as being the language of the land and the language that they will use to communicate with.
Working with the people and groups from India is always a great cultural experience. We are contently impressed with how nice and accepting everyone in the community is, many lessons in humanity are learned.
