Scott Youngs

Today Dan was in the studio with Scott Youngs, music director for the All Saints Episcopal church in Phoenix, Arizona.

Scott had some material he recorded a few years back that we transfered to our workstation so we could listen to the material for an upcomming CD project.

We will be at the church with the All Saints group next month to record some new tracks to add to the CD.

This evening Dan was ASU's Katzin Hall for a recording session with Eric Weingartner. Eric, who was formaly a student at Dobson has been studying at ASU with Sam Pilafian. Now that Sam is retiring, Eric is seeking to continue his studies at Butler University in Indianapolis. This should prove to be a wonderful experience for Eric, and Butler is definatly gaining one of ASU's assets.

DHS Bands of America Send off Concert

This evening Dan was on-location at Dobson High School recording a Send off Concert for the upcoming Bands of America and Orchestras of America trip.

This was the perfect opportunity for us to audition some of the newest additions to our equipment lineup.

This was the first chance for us to use our new AEA microphone stand. We have been using a Shure S15 telescoping stand that was aluminum and able to elevate 15 feet. Our new stand, is steel, has an articulating leg and is able to reach 30 feet in the air!!! This stand was more the stable enough to elevate our DECA tree to the perfect height in the Dobson Auditorium…….even from the floor of the orchestra pit.

For this recording we took the 4 channels from our Deca tree, to our Millennia Media HV3D mic pre amplifier, and then to our new Apogee AD16x analog to digital converter. From there we went to our laptop workstation and finally to Nuendo.

The ensembles performed masterfully. Every year they simply just keep getting better. Those attending the Bands of America and Orchestras of America festival are in for a wonderful treat.

Dobson Percussion, Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensembles

This evening Dan was on location at Dobson High School for a life recording of three of their ensembles. Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble were featured as a prelude to the Band of America send off concert this coming Thursday.

This evening is also the first opportunity that Mouse recording has had to use our new Apogee analog to digital converters.

This evening’s setup uses our Royer SF-24 Stereo Ribbon Microphone and our True Systems P2 analog Microphone Pre-Amplifier. From there one set of analog out puts is taken to a Tascam CD-RW2000 CD Recorder. The Second analog output from the Pre-Amp was taken to our new Apogee AD-16x, and then the signal was sent digitally to another Tascam CD-RW2000.

The differences are simply amazing. The Tascam recorders do a wonderful job on their own, with the addition of the new converters; the sound they are recording is much more open and lively.

Once our new site is up, we will post some examples of the music recorded.

New Toys!!!!!

Today Mouse Recording became the new home for a new Apogee AD-16x!!!!

The purpose of this device is twofold. First, it takes up to 16 analog signals and converts them to digital signals. Second, it provides a extremely stable and accurate master clock for our digital hardware.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be recording various ensembles and comparing the differences between our existing converters and the new Apogee. We will post some audio files so that you too can hear the differences and why this is such a great piece of hardware to add to our collection.
