Dobson High School and Sounds of the Season

This evening Dan was at Dobson High School recording their Jazz Band, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble as they perform their Holiday concerts.

This was also the 2nd live performance for their newly formed Jazz program and so far it has developed in great form. If they maintain pace, this will be an amazing program by the end of the year, and will set the tone for years to come.

Mixing with Miloy

This afternoon Dan and Miloy finished the Cerimony of Candles project. With the Master CD ready, we will begin the duplication process so they can begin selling them this weekend.

Shepherd of the Valley Session

Planning makes for perfect sessions.

Today Dan, along with Mike and Chris Hrubes were on location at Shepherd of the Valley Session Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Arizona for a fairly large recording session.

24 Microphones, 24 multi-track inputs, 26 voice choir and a number of instruments, check this out:

1st Violin (x2)
2nd Violin
Violist
Cello
Double Bass
Flute
Clarinet
Oboe
Bassoon
F-Horn (x2)
Trumpet (x2)
Trombone (x)2
Piano
Harp
Timpani
Melodic Percussion
And a 26 voice church choir.

For the churches 50th year anniversary, they wanted to make a recording of Joseph Martins, The Ceremony of Candles. Since the ensemble did not have a significant amount of rehearsal time, the decision was make to multi-track all the instruments in the ensemble individually so we would have greater control of balance when putting this project together.

Music Director Miloy CaƱete, who is also a doctoral student at ASU, did an amazing job preparing the ensemble and guiding them through the recording process.

We will meet later this week to edit and mix this project for distribution.
