the Phoenix Chorale joins the Arizona Bach Festival Orchestra

For our third evening with the Arizona Bach Festival, Dan was on-location at the "still being remodeled" Central United Methodest Church in Phoenix.

This evenings performance featured the Festival Orchestra along with The Phoenix Chorale performing J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium Christmas Oratorio.

While the performance was amazing and well attended, out focus was on the newly....well still in construction sanctuary. Not only is this a major facelift but the rooms acoustics have also been completly reworked resulting in a beautiful sounding hall.

Three performances down and one left as they close the festival with an Organ Recital back at All Saints.

Arizona Bach continues with Dr. Stephen Redfield

The Arizona Bach festival's week long celebration continued this evening with a performance by Dr. Stephen Redfield in the Lobby of the VIAD building in Central Phoenix.

Dr. Redfield was assisted by Sue Westendorf, Marian Buswell, Carol Proudfoot and Jan Simiz as they performed a variety of works by....well J.S. Bach :)

This recording proved to be a delight, given that it was in a lobby, the entire venue was made of stone and glass and provided a wonderful natural reverb.
This afternoon Dan was on-location at All Saint's Episcopal Church capturing the first performance of the newly formed Arizona Bach Festival.

Formaly known as the American Back Festival, the Ariona Bach was origionaly developed as part of the All Saints music programs, has grown well over the past 7 years and has now become its own self sustaining organization.

The first performance featured an Organ Recital by ASU's Dr. Kimberly Marshall playing to a suprisingly well attended audience.

While we have done many recordings at All Saint's in the past, this afternoon proved to make up for the ease of those provious sessions. The usual setup involving the House Microphones would not work due to air blowing directly on them from the air handlers so we went with a pair of our Royer R-122's is a spaced bi-directional config and it yielded one of the best sounds we have ever captured from the All Saints Organ.

....the next performance of the festival will be on January 5th at the Viad Building.
