Conan Premiers

Wow, what a great turn out for the first Annual Catch All Film Festival.

When Conan needed a place to debut, Michael Markowski along with Kevin Phipps put together a nice evening’s film festival at the POLLACK TEMPE CINEMAS. The evening was filled with some cool features and short surprises. All in all an enjoyable evening.

To my surprise, the Conan musical came out better then I imagined. It’s always fun to see how a project can come together when there are many elements that are unknown from the recording point of view.

You can finally check it out on-line…..

Mixing Conan Day 2

Back again with Conan.....

This evening Dan and Mike continued working on mixing for the Conan musical. 186 Tracks take time and patience, and more time....there never seems to be enough time.

We got some tracks printed although neither of us are loving them. Chances are we will spend some time next week going over the mixes again and working on them in more detail before the premiere.

Mixing Conan Day 1

Ok, at this point I think we are all tired of this project. It can get rather difficult to listen to the same 15 minutes of music over and over.

This evening Dan and Mike went over the conan tracks getting levels set and preparing for some final mixing on Thursday.

Conan Drums....Take Two

This evening Dan and Mike along with Joe Goglia recorded “take two” of the drum parts for the upcoming Conan Musical.

The original drum parts were recorded several months ago, unfortunately as the project matured; those parts simply were not up to par with the rest of the music. So the decision was made to bring in valley percussionist Joe Goglia to fill the task and bring a new life to the project.

Joe is an ASU graduate as well as the percussion instructor at Dobson High School. Joe has an extensive background in Latin percussion so he was right at home with the contrasting styles that go on throughout the musical.

The premiere date is currently set for November 12th. Stay tuned for more information.

Conan Mixing Begins

Today Dan began the first stages of mixing the Conan Musical.

This project has been fun, albeit somewhat unorganized. The first tracks were cut by Mike Markowski using his Motif and Adobe Audition. From there a 2-track mix was given to Dan for choir over dubs using Nuendo, after that a 2-track mix was taken to Trey where he tracked drums in Nuendo. Then Mike took 2-track overdub mixes back in to Audition for some rough mixes. Did I mention no one bothered to stay consistent with Sample Rates?

Now, Dan is bringing all the tracks in to Nuendo v3 for Mixing . Once the mixing is done the tracks will be transferred to files to be imported and synced to the video for editing.

Filming for this project should be finished this week, then it's off to post production.

Conan Over Dubs

http://www.conanmusical.com/

Today, Dan worked on overdubs with Mike, Ryan, Erik and Stephanie on the upcoming Conan Musical Project. As we continue on, the project is starting to sound better then I had expected. In any case it will defiantly be a-lot of fun to watch.

Stay tuned for more :)

Conan continues

Today Mike and Dan worked on the Choir tracks recorded for the Conan musical.

The choir was made up of a couple of ASU types and some Dobson High School Alums. The choir while inexperienced managed to put down some useable tracks. With a little bit of editing and creative thinking, this should turn out to be a great project.
